Letter to Local Business Owners

Dear Local Business Owners,

As you may or may not be aware, Brewer is fortunate to have an Ice Hockey Arena. However in the past this has not always been a positive for the City of Brewer. Penobscot Ice Arena (formally known as the TJ Ryan Center) has much potential and is under new management. We would like to take this opportunity to express how this could be a benefit to the area kids and businesses. We are working diligently to repair and improve the cosmetic as well as the functionality of the rink. We are hiring from the local area to work, giving employment to the area. We are also bringing in more tournaments, hockey camps, and other outside events; which will in turn supply more customers to local businesses.

We would like to give businesses in the area the opportunity to sponsor the rink as we have many spectators viewing these sponsorships. Although we are making many of the improvements and repairs ourselves, any sponsorship will just increase the potential of this rink, and give the youth of this area a nicer place to participate in athletics. Several area businesses have approached us asking if the new management will be accepting sponsorship, as the arena has not in the past, thus the letter to let all businesses know that sponsorships are available.

Obviously it is an ice arena and as such it has the potential to be a highly effective facility for local youth, junior high and high school hockey programs. Our intention is to work with the local youth hockey associations to launch new programs, offer a year round training center, learn to skate programs, learn to play hockey programs, girl’s and women’s hockey programs and inline hockey. We would also like to develop a Junior Hockey program in this area as it has been absent for several years, leaving no place for the young, gifted hockey players to stay at home and play at an advanced level. Outside of hockey we would like to continue and/or add to indoor soccer, indoor lacrosse and indoor field hockey.

We realize that as a business you are approached daily with request for donations and sponsorships but we hope that you will consider this a chance to build something nice in the community for our youth and adults that we can be proud to have in the city of Brewer. Penobscot Ice Arena can offer your company the chance to be an active part of an organization that caters to numerous sectors of our community. We can also offer year round visibility promoting your company, access to our diverse visitors and customers along with other advertisers, and website promotion, and some exposure through local media coverage during sporting events.
